Printing your pattern

  1. Print on A4 paper at 100% or "actual size". Don't use "fit to page".
  2. Measure the scale bar on the first pattern page. It should read exactly 5cm.
  3. Lay the pages out by their grid labels (A-1, A-2, B-1…) and tape them together.
  4. Seam allowance is 1cm throughout, and 1.5cm at armholes and sleeve openings.

Spooky, not scary

Halloween fun with Skelfie

Easy ideas for families, classrooms and outside school hours care services to bring the books to life this October.

Game

The great sock hunt

Hide odd socks around the house or room. Whoever finds the most gets to be "Skelfie" and hide them next round.

Kitchen

Bony biscuits

Bake plain biscuits, then pipe white icing bones on top. Add a dot of yellow for Skelfie's gold bow tie.

Movement

Skelfie says

Play "Simon says" with a ringmaster twist: "Skelfie says rattle your bones!" "Skelfie says tip your hat!"

Craft

Make a ringmaster hat

Roll grey card into a tube and add a brim, just like Skelfie's. Perfect for story time or the costume parade.

Read-along

Spot the mischief

While reading, pause on each page and ask: what has Skelfie moved this time? Who will get the blame?

Tradition

Wake Skelfie up

Start your own family tradition: bring a toy skeleton out of the cupboard on 1 October and see where he turns up each morning.
